# Mouallakat — المعلّقات العشر > A public Arabic reading library of the ten Muallaqat, with classical source links, word notes, and stable verse anchors. The poems and commentary are in Arabic. English and French pages introduce the library; they are not translations of the poems. The selected editions contain 755 verses. Counts and readings vary across editions. This is an educational reader, not a new critical edition, and the annotations have not received independent specialist review. Some word panels offer identified verse context rather than a precise lexical definition. ## Catalogue - [Machine-readable catalogue](https://mouallakat.com/assets/data/catalog.json): names, aliases, edition, verse counts, and text/JSON endpoints. - [Arabic library](https://mouallakat.com/): complete static HTML readers; JavaScript is only needed for interactive tools. - [English introduction](https://mouallakat.com/en/) - [Présentation française](https://mouallakat.com/fr/) ## Poems - [امرؤ القيس — Imru’ al-Qays](https://mouallakat.com/poems/imru-al-qays/index.md): 82 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [طرفة بن العبد — Tarafah ibn al-Abd](https://mouallakat.com/poems/tarafa/index.md): 105 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [زهير بن أبي سلمى — Zuhayr ibn Abi Sulma](https://mouallakat.com/poems/zuhayr/index.md): 58 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [لبيد بن ربيعة — Labid ibn Rabi‘ah](https://mouallakat.com/poems/labid/index.md): 88 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [عنترة بن شدّاد — Antarah ibn Shaddad](https://mouallakat.com/poems/antarah/index.md): 79 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [عمرو بن كلثوم — Amr ibn Kulthum](https://mouallakat.com/poems/amr-ibn-kulthum/index.md): 96 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [الحارث بن حلّزة — Al-Harith ibn Hillizah](https://mouallakat.com/poems/al-harith/index.md): 85 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [الأعشى — Al-A‘sha](https://mouallakat.com/poems/al-asha/index.md): 64 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [النابغة الذبياني — Al-Nabighah al-Dhubyani](https://mouallakat.com/poems/al-nabigha/index.md): 50 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. - [عبيد بن الأبرص — Abid ibn al-Abras](https://mouallakat.com/poems/abid-ibn-al-abras/index.md): 48 verses, Arabic text, commentary, and source links. ## Citation and interpretation Canonical reader URLs use https://mouallakat.com. Each numbered verse can be linked with #v-N, for example https://mouallakat.com/poems/antarah/#v-68. Identify the edition when discussing variants. The catalogue links to structured JSON with per-occurrence word annotations; the kind field distinguishes lexical notes from contextual fallback. Original Antarah notes have no kind field and are authored educational paraphrases. Preserve attribution to classical authors and do not describe the modern educational paraphrases as literal quotations from a classical commentary. ## Sources - [Al-Tabrizi, Sharh al-Qasaid al-Ashr](https://shamela.ws/book/37488): base edition for nine poems, al-Muniriyya, 1352 AH. - [Al-Zawzani, Sharh al-Muallaqat al-Sab‘](https://shamela.ws/book/11253): parallel commentary. - [Al-Babtain, 2003, Ibn al-Anbari transmission](https://www.albabtainlibrary.org/pdf/73.pdf): Antarah base text, printed pages 59–70. ## Editorial policy and source commentary - [Editorial method and limits](https://mouallakat.com/about/): chosen editions, annotation types, and independent-review status. - [Editorial status data](https://mouallakat.com/assets/data/editorial-status.json): occurrence counts and source-transcription checksum; automated checks are not scholarly review. - [Reviewer checklist](https://mouallakat.com/review-checklist.md): a proposed workflow, not a record of completed independent review. - [امرؤ القيس: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/imru-al-qays/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 82 verses, with sources. - [طرفة بن العبد: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/tarafa/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 105 verses, with sources. - [زهير بن أبي سلمى: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/zuhayr/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 58 verses, with sources. - [لبيد بن ربيعة: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/labid/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 88 verses, with sources. - [عنترة بن شدّاد: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/antarah/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 79 verses, with sources. - [عمرو بن كلثوم: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/amr-ibn-kulthum/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 96 verses, with sources. - [الحارث بن حلّزة: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/al-harith/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 85 verses, with sources. - [الأعشى: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/al-asha/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 64 verses, with sources. - [النابغة الذبياني: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/al-nabigha/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 50 verses, with sources. - [عبيد بن الأبرص: source commentary](https://mouallakat.com/poems/abid-ibn-al-abras/commentary/): accessible HTML notes for all 48 verses, with sources.
